Introduction:

The objective of this discussion is to help you distinguish between the terms science and technology. To prepare for the discussion, please read Chapter 1 of Ziman. Pay special attention to the definitions of science on pages 1-5. While reading the Time articles make sure that you understand the cloning procedure, the purpose of the work done by the Scottish team and the possible applications of the work. Ask your self how, or if, the project outlined in the Time articles fulfills the definition of science as described by Ziman. Finally, compare the definition of science as described by Ziman to your own definition and to the definition developed by the class in our discussion.
