Cloning has been in the news, cartoons,and jokes since the announcement that Scottish scientists produced the cloned sheep "Dolly." This development, which we have been discusssing, promises major benefits to society if we are to believe some enthusiasts, but major problems according to critics. You are asked to write a dialogue about this issue. You will project is ___ of your writing assignment grade. You must follow the format as described below.

  1. The paper must be at least 5 type written, double-spaced pages long.
  2. The paper bust be a dialogue between two people on the opposite sides of the question. It should be written in the form of a script or a play as shown below:

Sam: Hey, Shirley, the cloning issue has certainily been cropping up in the news a lot. It really drives me crazy to think that scientists have all of this power to control our reporoduction. This conflicts exactly with my religious views. In fact, the Pope just came out with a strong statement about it.

Shirley: I don’t understand the problem. What’s the big deal? Clones aren’t different than identical twins, are they?

  1. There should be at least 20 exchanges between people. That is, as shown in the example above, Sam should speak at least 20 times and Shirley should speak at least 20 times.
  2. The exchanges must be serious, substantive,a dn courteous comments made between two intelligent people grappling with and important issue. They should not be "Sam, you’re such a jerk, ""Oh, yeah!"
  3. It is not necessary to confine your dialogue to two people, more characters may be involved.
  4. A short introductory paragraph to the paper should be written indication where the dialogue is occurring and what the circumstances surrrounding the discussion are;i.e., set the scene.
  5. Write a final paragraph to your paper giving your personal opinion and reasons behind it.
  6. This paper must be entirely your own work. The one exception is that you may use the class discuss and discussions with friends to formulate some of your ideas. The words on the paper must be your own.
  7. The paper will be graded primarily on the basis of the number of issues explored and the depth of the coverage. It pays to have your characters speak at longer lengths that ht eexample between Sam and Shirley.
  8. A list of references must be written at the bottom of the paper. Each must be complete, with author, date, title of article, journal title, volume number and pages or book title, publisher and city. You may use references other than those read in class althought it is not necessary.
  9. Write you name, course title and number and section number of a cover page. Do not include a binder of any sort. Staple the paper in the upper left-hand corner.
